NestBloom is a proudly Made-in-Singapore product.
We are happy to share more regarding the origins of the hand-picked ingredients which go into our Blooms:
Our bird’s nest is harvested from Kalimantan, Indonesia; the Matcha is from some of the finest harvesters in Kyoto; our Chinese almonds are sourced from China; our rose extract is made using Damascus roses from Bulgaria; our vanilla pods are predominantly from Madagascar and, our pandan leaves and rock sugar are derived from Singapore.
Pandan Rock Sugar is represented by the Orchid.
Rose Almond Cream is a Rose.
Original Almond Cream is represented by the Chrysanthemum.
Matcha Almond Cream is in the shape of a Camellia.
Vanilla Bean Almond Cream is the Carnation.
Red Ginseng Bloom is represented by the Dahlia.
At NestBloom, we use only natural colourings.
To share more, the Original Almond Cream Bloom gets its colour from the freshly prepared almond milk; the Matcha Almond Cream Bloom’s colour comes from the pure matcha powder; the Rose Almond Cream Bloom derives its soft pink from a touch of beetroot juice; the Vanilla Almond Cream Bloom gets its off-white tone from the real vanilla pods that we use; and lastly, the Red Ginseng Bloom gets its beige colour from the natural red ginseng extract.
NestBloom is all natural; free from preservatives and additives.
We use a proprietary freeze-drying method to naturally preserve all the nutrients in our Blooms.
This process allows us to remove all the moisture so that we don’t need to add any artificial preservatives.
Our Blooms are safe and beneficial for pregnant ladies.
We also recommend NestBloom for pre and post-natal care.
Our Blooms can be consumed by placing them into a bowl and adding a recommended 80ml of hot water.
Next, stir gently and wait for 5 minutes.
After 5 minutes, your NestBloom is ready to be consumed.
We would recommend adding about 80ml of hot water, but the amount of hot water can always be adjusted according to your preference.
Alternatively, we recommend using our NestBloom double-wall ritual bowl that comes with the ritual kits.
There is an indicator in the bowl that indicates how much hot water to add. The ideal water temperature should be above 90°C.
Our Blooms do not have to be refrigerated; they can be stored safely at room temperature. Simply store them in a cool dry place, away from direct sunlight and heat.
Within the industry, the nests are typically graded based on their country of origin, size, thickness and colour. But beyond grades, a good way to tell the quality of a nest is through a soak test. (Whether or not the soaking water remains clear) helps one to determine if dyes or food glue has been used in the cleaning and preparation process. In addition, a good quality bird’s nest would expand in thickness and size. NestBloom’s Blooms dissolve into creamy opaque (almond milk range) and clear (rock sugar range) base that is free of impurities.
While we do not discriminate by size or thickness, whole nests are used in our recipes. These are cleaned and soaked overnight, prior to being portioned for each Bloom. Each Bloom contains about 30g of bird’s nest.
We only use premium grade bird’s nest to create our Blooms and our bird’s nest is ethically sourced from Kalimantan, Indonesia.
As a form of protein, bird’s nest must be cooked to a certain softness for it to be digestible. It is best taken in the morning before breakfast or in the evening, at least an hour or two before bedtime.
Usually, the first signs of aging are wrinkles that appear on our faces as we age. Studies have shown that Bird’s Nest is rich in epidermal growth factor (EGF) and collagen. These aid in skin repair, and hence regular consumption of bird’s nest does help the skin maintain its elasticity, which delays the appearance of wrinkles. In addition, regular consumption of bird’s nest helps the skin complexion to glow with radiance.
Since time immemorial, many regard bird’s nest as a health tonic as they believe it helps with asthma, especially for those who have bronchial ailments. It is believed that regular consumption of bird’s nest helps with persistent dry cough as bird’s nest has been documented to prevent inflammation of the airway.
In more recent times, there are more studies discussing sialic acid as the key nutrition in bird’s nests. There is much research that suggests that sialic acid is responsible for the following:
1. Helps with cognitive development 2. Improves gut and respiratory health 3. Boosts immunity and reduces inflammation
We recommend consumption of 15 – 30 grams of cooked bird’s nest 3 – 5 times a week for optimal nutrition.
As our body can absorb only a certain level of nutrients and protein each time, we would recommend consuming a readily portioned Bloom three to four times a week.
We believe that bird’s nests need to be consumed orally in order to obtain the health benefits.
As edible bird’s nest is mostly protein, our bodies need to break it down into amino acids to be fully absorbed by our bodies.
This would also mean that the bird’s nest has to be cooked to a soft consistency in order for our bodies to be able to fully digest. This is akin to cooking most proteins and meats fully before consumption.
